Coaching Certification Requirements
To be qualified to coach within Canoe Kayak Canada (CKC) and the Atlantic Division Canoe Kayak Canada (ADCKC) member clubs, coaches must attain a minimum “Trained” status in an approved coaching certification. The recognized certification levels, in order of progression, are:
CanoeKids (Community Coach)
Entry Level Competitive Coach (ELCC – Competition Introduction)
Competition Development (Comp Dev)
Advanced Coaching Diploma (ACD)
Chartered Professional Coach (ChPC)
Coaches may begin with either CanoeKids or ELCC. Current or former National Team athletes may apply for an exemption to begin at the Competition Development level.
Coaches must also hold a valid Pleasure Craft Operator Card (PCOC), First Aid and CPR certification, NCCP modules completed pertaining to the training & certification level, a valid Criminal Record Check in the last three years, and a minimum of one EDIA training (such as NCCP Anti-Racism in Coaching).
